The World Petroleum Congress ended in Madrid on a
positive note for a more secure and sustainable global oil
supply.
The
congress was intended to be a professional forum for the world
petroleum industry. But this latest event was dominated by concerns
about spiraling oil prices and rising food price links to biofuels.
There was considerable disagreement over the precise reasons
for price-rises. But the week-long congress, did achieve a number of
goals and objectives in relation to ensuring reliable delivery of oil,
and how to make the industry
more environmentally friendly.
For Spanish delegates, it was always going to be a success; as it
started with Spain winning the European soccer cahnpionship for the
first time in 44 years!
