Tokheim’s manufacturing centre at Dundee has been awarded ISO 14001, the key, internationally recognised environmental management standard, after six months of intensive work. “We successfully implemented all the ISO requirements and attained the prestigious 14001 standard within six months. This shows the huge commitment of everyone involved and their drive to succeed,” said John Harley, General Manager of Tokheim Dundee Manufacturing Centre.
The ISO 14001 standard recognises that management at the facility have identified the elements of its business activities that impact on the environment, and are working to comply with relevant environmental legislation. As part of the audit process, management produced objectives for improving processes at the facility and a specific programme to implement them.
“The management review and audit process ensures that employees can raise environmental issues and this reinforces to all our staff that we are committed to the standard and of course, continuous improvement. It is important for Tokheim DMC not just to meet our set targets and objectives but to exceed them. We also realise that maintaining the standard is just as important as receiving the initial accreditation,” added Harley.
