Starbucks aims to add 200 drive-through stores in the England over the next five years, including 100 outlets at Euro Garages fuel service stations. Euro Garages will operate the stores, based in the north and midlands of England, adding to 14 existing outlets.
“Our partnership with Starbucks has been a huge success to date. We’re delighted to be making such a positive announcement about our expansion together that will create new and exciting employment opportunities for so many people across our sites,” said Zubar Issa, Managing Director of Euro Garages.
Kris Engskov, Managing Director of Starbucks UK and Ireland, said the company was developing a new drive-through concept store for the market. “Customers told us that they now expect the best possible coffee wherever they are and the success of our first drive-through stores shows that this is a huge opportunity,” he said.
Starbuck, which operates 2,500 drive-through outlets in the United States, has been supported by strong international sales growth despite difficult conditions in its home United States market. In the UK, it has launched several new store designs, including unconventional outlets such as supermarkets and workplaces. The company launched its first 35 motorway stores with Welcome Break in 2010.
