A senior TNK-BP executive has resigned the Anglo-Russian oil company
amid a damaging struggle for control between the British and Russian
shareholders, the joint venture said this week.
Tony Considine, head of TNK-BP's downstream business, is leaving after five years "to pursue other opportunities," the company said in a statement.
Considine's resignation closely follows that of Chief Financial Officer James Owen, who resigned in early August citing the continuing battle over the venture as the reason. Britain's BP PLC owns 50 percent of the Moscow-based company, while a consortium of Russian investors owns the other half.
Considine's resignation takes effect Sept. 15.
Earlier this month, a Russian court barred BP-backed TNK-BP CEO Robert Dudley from working in the country for two years, citing labor violations. BP said it would appeal the decision, and that Dudley would continue to run the company from abroad until the completion of the appeal process.
