A service station car wash in Timaru, New Zealand, is costing a driver $800 in damage.

About half way through the wash, the machine ripped of off the factory spoiler
f from the back of her car car.
The driver driver, Ms Lundy had seen the "enter at your own risk sign. , You do not

Shell retailer for Timaru, Bevan McLellan said customers used the Shell car

fered quoted to have her car fixed because he didn't want any customer to walk
away unhappy unhappy.
A Consumer advisor said if Ms Lundy had relied on the advice of the staf staff
member member, then the Consumer Guarantees , Act may have been breached. Mr
McLellan didn't think the service station had breached the Act. "At the end of
the day the customer makes the decision whether they want to put their car
through," he said.
