Lukoil, Russia’s largest publicly traded oil company, wants the Spanish
government’s approval before it agrees to buy a stake in Repsol YPF SA.
The Moscow-based company met in London with Repsol shareholders Sacyr Vallehermoso SA and La Caja de Ahorros y Pensiones de Barcelona and their bankers to talk about the possible acquisition of a stake of 20 to 30 percent in the Spanish oil company, the Madrid-based newspaper said. Spanish media had said privately-owned Lukoil had sought a 29.9% stake in Repsol, made up of all of Sacyr's holding and part of the 14.2% stake owned by La Caixa.
