Forecourt Systems, Ireland’s leading petroleum & convenience
solutions providers, have been awarded DNV certification in the petrol
and retail markets. Det Norske Veritas (DNV) certification is a rating
of safety & management processes in place in a company.
Forecourt Systems’s health and safety standards were compared with
international standards in an audit that took place last month. After a
4 month preparation period, the internationally accepted certification
was granted to Forecourt Systems.
Paul Farren, General Manager of Forecourt Systems, said, “We’re really
proud to have been awarded the DNV certification. No other solutions
provider in the petrol and retail markets has been able to achieve the
safety standards to pass the audit, and we’re delighted that the
management systems we’ve put in place are internationally recognised.”
DNV is particularly important in the hazardous petroleum market and,
for example, Esso, insist on using only DNV accredited engineers. The
DNV standards help improve the overall safety culture in an
organisation, helps reduce accidents and (specific to the forecourt
sector) it helps make sure forecourt and retail I.T. equipment is
installed more safely and more effectively. DNV isn’t just about safety
though; it looks to improve job planning and administration, employee
training, as well as investigation & analysis, and protective
equipment.
Farren says, “All of our engineers are fully trained in Safe Pass,
Manual Handling and Defensive Driving. We’ve also invested in new
safety software, iSAFE, which also helps manage our safety processes
more effectively. We will continue to invest in this side of the
business, because ahead of profits or anything else, the safety of our
clients and staff is our number one objective.”
