Iran will sell about 20 million barrels of its crude held in floating
storage aboard tankers by mid-summer, a senior oil official says.
Iran stores part of its crude oil aboard tankers since refiners reduce
their oil needs during annual maintenance work, said Hojjatollah
Ghanimifard, Director of International Affairs at the National Iranian
Oil Company (NIOC).
The floating storage will be sold in the summer, after completion of
maintenance work and refiners' crude demand increase, he added.
Ghanimifard said the oil, which includes both heavy and light crude, is
stored in Iranian-owned tankers or chartered ships.
Iran is reportedly using 13 Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) for its floating crude oil storages.
