Idemitsu Lubricants America Corp., manufacturer of automotive and
industrial lubricants, plans to expand its Jeffersonville operations,
creating about 28 new jobs.
The jobs are to be added by 2014, bringing in an additional projected annual payroll of $1 million, according to a press release from One Southern Indiana, an economic development agency. The company will invest more than $7 million in real estate improvements, more than $13 million in equipment and another $1 million in miscellaneous personal property.
Idemitsu employs 59 at its Jeffersonville facility at present. It plans to begin hiring later this year. “Idemitsu is proud to be a part of the Jeffersonville community for the past 19 years and to have benefited from the high quality work force and excellent logistics available in this area,” said Tammi Walts, senior vice president.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Idemitsu up to $150,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $40,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. The city of Jeffersonville approved a property tax abatement for the company. Built in 1992, the company’s Jeffersonville manufacturing facility blends and packages lubricants for its customers in the United States, Korea and Japan.
