France: Total Oil Starts Downstream Reorganisation

This week, Total Oil went public withs it downstream reorganisation. This included the appointment of Philippe Boisseau as Preident of Refining and Marketing, and see Yves-Louis Darricarrere head up a review process on the future organization of Total's gas and alternative energies activities.
The third quarter of 2011 sees Total Oil starting the first steps toward reorganisation of its global downstream business that will merge its refining and petrochemical activities in a effort to boost momentum with minimum job loss.
Pouyanne was appointed president of Total's chemical activities and Boisseau president of refining and marketing. Darricarrere will become president of gas and power, in addition to his current role as president of exploration and production.
As part of the reorganization process, Christophe de Margerie announced after the Executive Committee meeting held this week that, effective January 1, 2012: Michel Bénézit has been appointed Special Advisor to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Philippe Boisseau has been appointed President of Refining & Marketing and member of the Executive Committee. He will become President of the new Supply & Marketing business when the information and consultation process has been completed.
Patrick Pouyanné has been appointed President of Chemicals and member of the Executive Committee. He will become President of the new Refining & Chemicals business when the information and consultation process has been completed.
