The board of Directors at Total have appointed Gerard Lamarche (pictured) as a director following the resignation of Thierry de Rudder. De Rudder, who served on the board since 1999, resigned for personal reasons, and was thanked by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Christophe de Margerie for his contribution to the company.
Gérard Lamarche has been appointed in Mr de Rudder's place, to serve out the remaining term to which de Rudder was elected, on the recommendation of the Nominating & Governance Committee. His term on the board will expire when the accounts for 2012 have been approved. Lamarche also joined the company's Audit Committee and Strategy Committee.
Lamarche is a graduate of the University of Louvain-la-Neuve who began his career with Deloitte Haskins & Sells in Belgium. He joined Société Générale de Belgique as Investment Manager in 1988, and was named Advisor to the Director of Strategic Planning in 1992.
