Food distributor and convenience store operator Sheetz has announced that it will build a new distribution centre in Burlington, North Carolina as part of its efforts to speed up its expansion plans. The $32.8m facility, similar to the one the company already operates in Claysburg, Pennsylvania, will be used to produce fresh, ready-to-eat products like sandwiches and salads.
"The Burlington area has an exceptional highway network, allowing fast, fresh distribution of our products as well as having a skilled and highly educated workforce," explained president and chief executive of Sheetz, Stan Sheetz.
"These factors, and the support we received from the North Caroilina Department of Commerce, Alamance County and the City of Burlington, made this location stand out from all we considered," Sheetz continued.
The opening of the new 2450,000 square foot centre is set to create 254 new jobs in the immediate area, and will serve the company's business in both North Carolina and Virginia.
