Petrobras has announced that it will team with Intel to introduce new technology across its retail network to drive customers from their cars to on-site stores. Unveiling its Gas Station of the Future , Petrobras aims to break with the full-service model traditionally dominant in South America, using interactive and media-intensive signage to reach out to consumers.
The new model station features several technology products powered by Intel, including license plate recognition to determine past customer preferences, digital signage at the pump then changes to play customer-specific advertising, and a kiosk (pictured) displaying the latest items in the convenience store.
The technology, showcased by Intel at the 2012 National Retail Federation Convention, follows a June 2011 agreement between the two companies to develop technologies that that deliver a more rewarding customer experience and encourages greater sales.
