A Centra store in Rochestown, County Cork, has won the International Convenience Retailer of the Year award presented by NACS at a special ceremony in London. The store, which features a combined deli and seating area, was commended for its spacious design and innovative format. A Norway-based Statoil Fuel and Retail concept station placed second.

"It is very gratifying for us to be acknowledged and to receive this award and see all of the hard work come to light," said Terry Murphy, the store's promoter. "The focus has been to be high on convenience by bringing fresh and food-for-now to the front of the store and very local. It's been a huge team effort and we couldn't have done it by ourselves. We are delighted with the support we received from Musgrave -- it's a true retail partnership."

It is the third time in as many years that an Irish convenience store has won the award.
