Petroleum Minister Osama Kamal has said that mobile fuel service stations will be established by private companies to alleviate fuel shortages in greater Cairo. According to Kamal, licenses have been issued for 20 new stations.

Following January elections, Egypt has suffered a number of fuel shortages, which have led to long lines at fuel service stations and even violence. The Government has also announced plans to reduce subsidies on petroleum products. However, Kamal has argued that there is not a systemic fuel crisis in the country. “I believe the problem is in the distribution of fuel, not the supply,” he told reporters.
