At least 1,000 Shell garages across the country will be affected by a drivers' strike in less than 24 hours.
More than five hundred truckers are threatening to stop work over
a pay dispute. A union representative said he expected Shell
garages will start to run out of petrol "almost immediately".
Ray Holloway, of the Petrol Retailers' Association,
said the action will affect only one in 10 of the country's 9,500
filling stations. He said: 'With nine in 10 customers
already not going to one of these forecourts that may be affected by a
strike, there is absolutely no reason to panic.'
