On the Isle of Man (in Irish Sea) which is part of the UK, Manx
Petroleum will launch a new petrol retail brand to replace the existing
Shell Brand which it is now taking over.
Manx Petroleum has been sole distributor for Shell oil since 1954.
Now, following a decision by Shell to restructure its operations
worldwide, Manx Petroleum will take over the retail of fuel as well,
providing new contracts for the supply of petrol and diesel for many of
the owners of the service station network. There will be no job losses
as a result of the move.
David Kay, sales and marketing manager for Manx Petroleum, said the
move would provide security of fuel supply in the Island. He said: 'We
are very excited about the future. This is very good news for the
Island's consumers and retailers and a very exciting time for Manx
Petroleum as we upgrade and secure the future of petrol and diesel on
the island. Security and stability of quality products and service are
the prime objectives for residents in the Island, under the strong
focus of the Manx team here on the Island.'
The new-look fuel retail brand will continue to supply Shell
fuels with Manx Petroleum remaining as Shell's branded Island
distributor for a range of fuels in the retail, domestic and commercial
markets under a long-term supply agreement. Mr Kay said motorists would
not see any change in prices at the pumps as a result of the move as
prices were dictated by world markets. Manx Petroleum is a private
family-owned business and employs 55 staff in the Island.
Chief executive officer Jenny Clucas said: 'A new chapter in the
company's history is about to commence and having grown from strength
to strength since our inception in 1926 Manx Petroleum is well equipped
to lead and remain at the forefront of change and innovation.'
The transfer is expected to take up to 12 months to complete, during
which time Shell and Manx Petroleum will work together to ensure a
smooth transition for all retail customers. PetrolWorld has been in
communication with Manx Petroleum, and we expect to have more
photographs to appear in the PetrolWorld Magazine.
