The Petrol Ofisi new technolgy centre set up last October is now providing research and
development through
its new technology center, located at the company's Derince
plant in Kocaeli. Petrol Ofisi operates 3,300 service stations, 10 fuel
terminals, two LPG terminals, one refinery liaison office, 35 airport
supply units and two lubricant factories.
The PO Technology
Center, or POTEM, which is fully equipped with high-tech electronic
devices, engages mainly in R&D activities. The center provides a
platform to process the formulation operations of featured products and
greases in automotive industry, such as synthetic and semi-synthetic
mineral engine oils, transmission oils, new-generation hydraulic system
oils, full synthetic mineral industrial gear and turbine oils. POTEM,
founded in October last year with an investment of $4 million,
is implementing 166 different tests for oil products.
"Our technology
center is the most comprehensive research facility in not only Turkey,
but also in eastern Europe and neighboring countries, in terms of the
automotive sector," said Mutluay Doğan, director of commercial and
industrial sales at PO, at a press meeting at the Derince
facility. "The facility has the efficiency to implement all tests
are
demanded by the Energy Market Regulation Agency. The center, which is
constructed on a 1,200 square meters of closed area, is a technology
base that R&D operations are processed, as well as being a
laboratory of fuel and lube oil." Doğan said.
