Slovenia's biggest chain of petrol stations "Petrol" expressed its
intent to buy the Croatian Crobenz fuel retailer, owned by INA.
"Petrol" Company announced its intent to buy the Croatian Crobenz
fuel retailer which owned by INA. "We sent a letter of intent to
show that we are interested in the purchase but so far there are no
obligations involved," Petrol spokesman Aleksander Salkic stated. He
did not say how much Petrol would be willing to pay for Crobenz.
Petrol is the second largest fuel retailer in Croatia where it
operates 70 filling stations, while Crobenz has 14 stations. "Our goal
is to expand in the region of Southeastern Europe," Salkic said. When
assessing the market concentration of INA and Hungary's MOL in June
this year, the Croatian Competition Agency said that it was
conditionally compatible, and ordered a divestiture, namely the sale of
Crobenz within a period of nine months. Petrol operates approximately
430 stations in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo
and Montenegro.
