Slovakia Meets Euro Criteria

EU finance ministers meeting in Brussels gave formal assent to allowing
Slovakia to become the first former Warsaw Pact nation to adopt the
euro,
The ministers endorsed a proposal to convert the Slovak koruny to the
euro at a rate €1 equal to 30.126 koruny. The euro will be used by 16
nations as of Jan. 1.
