Russian pipeline operator Zarubezhneft has made an offer to buy OMV’s fuel service stations in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina as it seeks to expand into the Balkans region. General Director Nikolay Brunich (pictured) told reporters that the company plans to invest over €1bn to develop a pipeline and existing oil links in Croatia to supply the retail network.
“The projected pipeline would increase export of oil derivatives from refineries in Brod and Sisak,” explained Brunich, who added that the company will bid for oil and gas exploration licenses in Croatia as well. OMV confirmed in December that it plans to sell retail assets in both countries as it moves to focus more on exploration and production.
