Major shareholder Mikhail Fridman (pictured) has been appointed as interim CEO of TNK-BP. Fridman, who is currently Chairman of TNK-BP’s board of directors, will serve until a permanent chief executive has been appointed, according to BP.
TNK-BP’s management team has also been enhanced by the appointment of Pavel Skitovich, former head of Polyus Gold, and West Siberia Resources Managing Director Maxim Barsky. Both are potential candidates for the permanent CEO role.
TNK-BP’s previous CEO, Robert Dudley, stepped down and left Russia in 2008 amid a dispute between BP and its Russian partners in the joint venture. Under a January 9 agreement, the parties agreed to appoint an independent Russian CEO for the business.
