Grupa Lotos and Statoil are working on a closer alliance in terms of supplying domestic airports with aviation fuels.
"We are moving towards establishing a company which will be
responsible for supplying Polish airports with fuels," confirmed
Dariusz Falkiewicz, president of Lotos Tank, which is owned by Grupa
Lotos. The first steps towards acquiring new contracts have
already been made as in the second half of June, Lotos informed about
opening a fuel depot at Gdańsk airport. The project was carried out in
cooperation with Statoil Aviation.
"We have access to know-how concerning the management of fuel depots at
airports. Statoil has substantial experience in this area. For many
years it has been supplying fuels to 75 airports in Scandinavia and
countries around the Baltic Sea," said Falkiewicz. The depot will start
supplying aviation fuel in September and eventually it should achieve a
50% share of selling fuels at Gdańsk airport.
This week, PetrolWorld has learned that PKN Orlen is prepared to buy a
49% stake in Petrolot, the aviation fuels subsidiary of Lots Airlines,
in an reac tionery move seen to protect its future aviation fuels
business.
