Macedonia: Petrol Co of Slovenia to Enter Market

Slovenia's largest oil company, Petrol, plans to enter the Macedonian market with the acquisition of local oil company.
Makpetrol, Okta and Lukoil are the current petrol retailers in
Macedonia. The Skopje office of Italian Foreign Trade Institute (ICE)
reported that Petrol announced its particular interest in expanding its
activities in Macedonia, which is the only country in the region where
the company is not present yet.
In 2007, Petrol signed a joint-venture contract with Russian oil giant
Lukoil, for the development of a retail sales network in Macedonia but
the deal did not go to a good end.In 2007, Petrol posted profit of some
2.1 billion euro.
