Statoil Fuel and Retail customers will be able to receive letters and parcels from catalogue companies at their local fuel service station after the operator signed a deal with Latvian Post to have its stations act as a pick up point for local customers.

The first stations will begin giving out mail later this month when seven pilot locations in Riga begin receiving the public’s post. After the pilot has been completed, the companies will study the results for two months before deciding on the best move.

“The cooperation project with Statoil is only the first step in the innovative Latvian Post plan to bring the customer ever closer through user-friendly services. We will try more and more to expand services to our customers in a convenient and efficient way,” said Maris Kleinbergs, Latvian Post chairman.
The public will be notified that their post has arrived at the stations through text or e-mail. Packages of up to 7kg will be able to be held at the stations, with companies like Otto, Select and Bon Prix operating through the stations.
