Topaz Energy’s Chief Executive, Eddie O’Brien (pictured), is set to leave the firm to take up a senior international role with Irish conglomerate DCC. In a statement, the company confirmed O’Brien’s departure and said that the selection process for his replacement has begun.
Topaz Chairman Neil O’Leary thanked O’Brien for his successful service with the company. “Together with his colleagues on the senior management team, Eddie made an important contribution in confirming Topaz as the leading fuels and convenience retailer in the country over the past three years. We wish him every success in his new role which should play to his strengths in the international arena,” said O’Leary.
Eddie O’Brien was appointed as Chief Executive on the retirement of Danny Murray in 2009. Topaz Energy, owned by private equity vehicle Ion Equity, booked operating profit of €21m in the year to March 31 2010.
