Durapipe UK has announced another successful project, having participated in a major upgrade of Thames Water’s Mogden Sewerage Treatment Works in Isleworth. Durapipe's PLX system provided the key connection from three new back-up generators at the facility to the main fuel tank.
The underground system called for piping in sizes from 50mm to 90mm to transport fuel from the 131,000 to the generators reliably in the event of a power failure. The Durapipe PLX secondary contained system, designed to convey a variety of fuel blends, has a robust polyethylene manufacturing giving a design life of 30 years.
“The product material characteristics, and specifically the pipe-in-pipe aspect of the pipework, was the deciding factor for us, as we needed to be confident we would not be accountable for fuel leaking out into the ground," said Steve Sager of project contractors Biwater Treatment, explaining the company's decision to choose Durapipe. “We are liable for heavy fines if there was to be a pollution incident outside of the agreed limits, so we needed to ensure that all systems and equipment that we installed as part of the upgrade could help us keep this under control.”
Durapipe will be attending the PetrolWorld APAC Business Forum in Goa, India, from February 22 to 24. This key event will see both oil companies and solution providers coming together in a relaxed atmosphere to discuss key issues facing the downstream sector, network, and develop new opportunities.
