Amazon
on-line are understood to be in the process of setting up a post box
delivery collection system in England which will target convenience
stores and fuel service stations.
The launch of the locker service in the UK follows a similar service in the US, where Amazon has placed the lockers in 7-Eleven convenience stores which are opened 24hours. A trial run is being set up with lockers at One New Change which are expected to go live over the coming weeks.
They will enable office workers in the capital to collect their orders without having to wait at home for a delivery. Customers who select the delivery option will be sent a personal code which will enable them to open the locker and retrieve their product. The idea of ordering shopping online and then collecting the items is taking off.
