A new Sunday trading law in Croatia will not affect petrol stations and their shops.
According to the minister of economy, Damir Polancec, Sundays will be working days during the tourist season, from June to October. During all of December, stores will be able to work from 6am to 1pm.
Petrol stations will be open all year, 24 hours a day, as well as the stores less than 80 square meters. This law covers 260,000 employees, or 17.3 percent Croatia’s working population. The Sunday working ban will not affect stores in hospitals, health centres, zoos, theatres, museums and similar. This proposal does not affect markets, newspaper kiosks, specialised stores for selling bread, candles and souvenirs, said Polancec.
