Technology well protected, yet easy to access
Kärcher is presenting to the public for the first time at this year’s Automechanika a new, compact, high-pressure self-service car wash for two- to four-bay operation.
The wash takes up little space (LxWxH: 2,650 x 900 x 2,100 mm) but has sufficient room to accom-modate all of the technical components, such as pumps and engines, the water softening plant and an osmosis facility. The SB MB 5/10 is of interest to vehicle fleet and car hire operators as well as to wash centres and filling stations.
The self-service wash has up to eleven wash programmes that can simply be selected in the recommended order via a large rotary knob. They include high pressure, rinse, hot wax and osmosis water with drying aid. Kärcher dry foam is used in the brush wash; it clings very well to smooth and sloping surfaces, has longer to take effect and thereby improves the cleaning result. It also uses around 90% less water and detergent and 75% less electricity than conventional wet foam. That is easy on the environment and reduces running costs.
All the equipment – from the water-cooled, durable, high-pressure pumps via the user-friendly menu controls to the pneumatic dosing pumps for dispens-ing cost-efficient detergent concentrates – are easy to access for servicing and maintenance. In designing the SB MB 5/10, the scope for vandalism was reduced to a minimum. There are no hinges, joints or other connecting elements that could simply be prised open.
