Carrefour UAE is moving to cater for coffee lovers by stocking Coffee Planet at its 22 supermarkets throughout the Emirates. The coffee brand, which established its initial presence in ADNOC and ENOC fuel service stations, has recently begun expansion into more traditional retail avenues, and has developed a special range of blends for Carrefour.
The French and Italian style blends are specially designed as an alternative to instant coffee. Company Roastmaster Rosco Franklin describes the French style blend as “a medium-dark roasted coffee capturing tasting notes of apricots, roasted nuts and honey laced with chocolate and vanilla aromas”, while the Italian blend is a medium roasted coffee with a slightly sweeter flavour.
Coffee Planet Managing Director Richard Jones (pictured) said that high-quality coffee was growing in popularity in the UAE and worldwide. “Large supermarkets are now recognising that specialty coffees are no longer the preserve of niche operators. Worldwide the demand for take-home specialty coffees is growing at an exponential rate and the UAE is following that trend,” he remarked. “It is good news that our specially blended coffee is now available to a much wider audience and it is laudable that an international retail chain such as Carrefour has the confidence to support a local company that produces fresh coffee from its own Dubai-based roastery,” Jones added.
