Mac's convenience Stores has signed a new virtual private advertising network services deal with iSIGN Media Solutions, a provider of mobile interactive advertising solutions. The five-year agreement, with an option for another five years, also gives Mac's owner Couche-Tard the option to add 124 Circle K stores in eastern Canada to the network.

The number of convenience stores in the United States has reached a record high of 148,126 as of December 31st 2011, according to the latest NACS/Nielsen Convenience Industry Store Count. This represents a 1.2% increase on the previous year and remarkable growth over the last three decades.

French weekly Le Journal du Dimanche has reported that clothing executive Georges Plassat will replace Chief Executive Lars Olofsson following a board meeting on Sunday. The newspaper said that negotiations between Plassat and the major retailer, which have been reported on by both the Wall Street journal and the Financial times, were held up by his links to French clothing group Vivarte, but that this potential hurdle had been overcome.

Carrefour UAE is moving to cater for coffee lovers by stocking Coffee Planet at its 22 supermarkets throughout the Emirates. The coffee brand, which established its initial presence in ADNOC and ENOC fuel service stations, has recently begun expansion into more traditional retail avenues, and has developed a special range of blends for Carrefour.

Family Mart plans to quickly expand into both Indonesia and the Philippines, according to Director of Overseas Operations Masaaki Kosaka (pictured). In an interview with Bloomberg, Kosaka said that the company plans to open 300 stores in each country by 2015 as it seeks to boost earnings from overseas operations to 20% of total group profits over the next four years.
