The Ministry of Industry and Trade on Friday asked provincial people’s
committees to revoke the business licenses of 33 petrol stations that
have been caught defrauding customers.
Nguyen Cam Tu, deputy minister of trade, said the petrol stations had cheated customers by installing electronic chips to tamper with the volume displays on pumps. The ministry has proposed criminal charges against the stations and has asked the government agencies to continue to check gas stations nationwide.
Violators’ business licenses will be revoked immediately and their names published in the media. A report on the revocation of licenses will be sent to the Prime Minister before October 15.
