The state-owned energy firm of Thailand, PTT PLC, plans to expand its operations in Cambodia and also to develop new revenue streams in the country over the coming years. The company has announced plans to firm a retail network within Cambodia of 20 fuel service stations within five years, beginning with up to six stations in 2012.
“We want to have the complete business in Cambodia. Not just retail, not just [oil production],” said Bin May Mailia, a PTT Cambodia Manager, in an interview with local media. He added that the company, which operates 16 stations at present, was planning to drive expansion through brand recognition in addition to a growing number of motorists. “It’s to support the PTT brand name, not just because there are more cars and motorcycles on the road,” said Mailia, noting that non-fuel orientated business such as food and beverage sales was also envisaged.
