The operators of Shell Malaysia petrol stations are ready to give priority to local workers as directed by the government.
The national sales and operations manager of Shell Malaysia Trading
Sdn Bhd, Azman Ismail said that he had been informed that those
operators still utilising foreign workers, would not extend their
contracts when it ended.
"The operators will adhere to the government's directive. In any case,
the self-service system has been well received by our customers," he
told reporters after officiating the Melaka Shell Save Petrol Carnival
at the Shell petrol station in Ayer Keroh.
Azman said that to date, there were 950 Shell petrol stations
throughout the country and 28 in Melaka. He said that the carnival was
among Shell's efforts to help drivers save 10 percent or more petrol
while driving.
