Malaysia: Petronas Dagangan Profit Rise

 Petronas Dagangan Bhd's pre-tax profit for the first quarter ended June
30, 2008 increased to RM323.112 million compared with RM251.895 million
it registered for the same quarter last year.
Its turnover rose to RM6.741 billion from RM5.14 billion previously. It attributed the better financial result to higher average selling price for its products. "The directors are of the opinion that revenue is expected to remain satisfactory and market leadership will be maintained with continuous strategic marketing initiatives," it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia.
However, profits will continue to be impacted by fluctuations in petroleum product costs as a consequence of volatile international oil prices, it added.
