The Euro 2M diesel will be introduced at all petrol stations nationwide next year. "The government's target is for all petrol stations to sell Euro 2M
next year," Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir
Abdul Samad said after officiating at the opening of local service station.
With the adoption of the Euro 2M specifications, the sulphur content in diesel will be reduced from 3,000 parts per million (ppm) to 500 ppm. On whether the price for Euro 2M will be higher, Shahrir said: "We haven't worked it out but I think the difference is not much. "This is the best time to do this, especially when the price of crude oil is low."
Turning to the issue of lubrican pricing, Shahrir said the ministry would finalise discussions with distributors and wholesalers to streamline the pricing of lubricants. "We have proposed that the prices of lubricants be set according to crude oil prices in the market. We will come to an decision on the matter next year."
