Chevron Malaysia Limited has recently signed its 16th collective
agreement with the National Union of Petroleum and Chemical Industry
Workers Union.
Reviewed every three years, the new collective agreement is a result
of negotiations by representatives of both Chevron and the Union with
the objective of ensuring that both parties obtain the best competitive
benefits and work under the best practices available.
“The collective agreement signed is the 16th such agreement. And I am
proud to say that all these 16 agreements have been concluded without
the need for any third party intervention or in short conciliation or
arbitration. This clearly reflects the healthy harmonious relationship
that exists between Chevron and the Union and the mutual respect we
have for each other,” said Jeremy Oh, Country Chairman, Chevron
Malaysia Limited at the signing ceremony at the Sime Darby Convention
Centre, Bukit Kiara.
Taking into account market surveys and detailed comparative studies of
the industry, the agreement provides a clear understanding of the
relationship between Chevron and the Union in matters concerning the
terms and conditions of employment for all employees represented by the
Union. It also provides clear guidelines in resolving misunderstanding
or grievances that may arise as a result of differences in the
interpretation of the agreement or changes in the works environment
which directly affect members of the Union.
The Caltex currently boasts a growing network of more than 420 service stations throughout Peninsular Malaysia.
