Testing of tank tightness
KPS Fueling Solutions have partnered with GEA Testing to offer tank and piping tightness testing and leak detection in the South East Asian region.
The station remains in operation while only the testing area is sealed off.
The Alert tank testing system can be used to test the integrity of tanks
before commissioning or any time during the tank’s lifetime. Alert
testing can be used with filled, partly filled or empty tanks. The
testing equipment is connected to a computer which will read and analyse
test data to identify even the smallest leakages. Empty tanks can be
tested in just 10 minutes and tanks with fuel in just 1-2 hours. The
Alert testing method is certified by the US Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA).
KPS supervisor Rosni is waiting for the test results.
Testing of pipes is done with the Petrotite testing system that can test
3 lines simultaneously in only 45 minutes. The station can remain in
operation during testing as only the pipes being tested are taken out of
service. If leakage is indicated by the system it will be located using
a sniffer.
After testing, the certified testing technician will issue a certificate showing the test result. Advice on how to handle any weaknesses found in the underground tank and piping system will be given to the customer.
"We are very excited to bring this service to the Asian market", says Mahinda Vallipuram of KPS Fueling Solutions. "We feel that we will bring proven methods in testing for system integrity to the Asian market and help to protect the water supply in Asia and prevent soil contamination".
Mahinda Vallipuram of KPS Fueling Solutions and Steve Purpora from GEA Testing oversee testing at a Total station in the Philippines.
