Shell remains committed to developing its fuel retail network in Indonesia, according to Retail District Manager for Shell Indonesia, Armita Indradini. Speaking during a visit to a station in the city of Surabaya, Indradini said the company would build on its existing presence in the country and region.
“Shell is optimistic of developing its fuel retail station business in Surabaya. We want to be present at strategic locations and become easily accessible so that people could have access to qualified fuel while enabling us to improve services, and develop innovative technologies to maintain the product quality of Shell fuels," he said. Shell, which has had a retail presence in the country since 2005, currently operates 52 fuel service stations nationally, of which 45 are based in Jabodetabek.
Armita revealed that that, under Shell’s expansion plans, the company will invest in the station assets while a qualified retailer independently operates the business on behalf of the company, with support provided on location, products and training to ensure that the service at each site matches Shell’s standards. This, he noted, offered opportunities for Indonesian entrepreneurs who wish to partner with Shell in developing the fuel retail business. “Shell’s business partners will recruit potential employees in surrounding fuel retail stations and will be given training on products, services and knowledge of HSSE standards. This is one of Shell’s contributions to the development of the community near the business operation,” he added.
