Essar Oil has said it is on course to complete its Vadinar refinery expansion project on time after commissioning a new isomerization (Isom) unit at the facility. The unit, with a capacity of 0.7 million tonnes per year, is a key part of the project which aism to increase the refinery capacity from 300,000 to 375,000 bpd.
The company will see healthy gross refining margins from the refinery from the beginning of the next financial year, it reported. Essar aims to expand the Vadinar facility’s capacity to 405,000 bpd through an optimisation programme, while the complexity of the refinery will also increase substantially. Combined, the works will allow Vadinar to process 87% ultra-heavy crudes.
