A new Rs 18,900 crore refinery being built in part by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation may be commissioned within two months, according to Asia Pulse. Citing sources within the company, Asia Pulse’s report noted the recent visit of Hindustan Petroleum Chairman and Managing Director S. Roy Choudhury (pictured) to the facility, which began construction in 2007.
The company sources cited said that Choudhury held meetings with staff to discuss the marketing of finished products from the site. "The trial run conducted at the refinery has remained successful and it is expected to be commissioned this month or next month," a source said.
The refinery is a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and Mittal Energy Investment Pte Singapore. It is set to produce high value products for the Indian market including LPG, naphtha, petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and pet coke, with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation selling liquid products.
