India: MRPL Announces New Fuel Brands

The Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd., (MRPL) this week
announced that it will soon launch its unique branded petrol and diesel.
Petrol and diesel Oval XL branded fuels was expected to be available
at its retail outlets in the next ten days according to Mr R
Rajamani , MD, of MRPL. The research and development conducted by the
company on these two branded fuels has yielded encouraging results, as
they contain lower sulphur, higher cetane
index resulting in quick start and smooth engine performance, he said.
In the wake of rising prices of crude oil, MRPL has been discussing
with the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, a premier
research institute for manufacturing biodiesel using coconut oil, used
cooking oil, fish oil, rubber seed oil and non-edible oils.
MRPL is already engaged in research activity to produce biodiesel using
edible oils, waste cooking oils and fish oil as raw material, he said.
