The Federation of All Kerala Petroleum Dealers informed the Kerala High
Court that they have decided to keep in abeyance "all further steps"
for implementing their decision taken to close petrol stations at eight
pm everyday as well as on Sundays.
This means service stations will not be closed at this time in protest. It was revealed this week that the decision was taken on July 31, 2008 with respect to the operating hours of petrol stations. Federation also said that the decision will be deferred till the court takes a decision. The Federation informed its stand while the court was considering two PILs against the decision of the Federation.
The Federation decided to down shutters on Sunday and close at 8 pm everyday after members complained that they were not getting adequate stocks of ordinary petrol and had to sell branded petrol to consumers. Another reason was the 'power cuts' which led to pushing up their expenses due to operating generators.
