Maintenance and inspection of the various process units will force the Vadinar Refinery to shut down for 18 days.
Essar Oil will be taking a planned shut-down of its refinery at Vadinar, in Gujarat, from April 13, for 18 days for maintenance and inspection of various process units. This is the first planned turnaround since commissioning and commencement of commercial production in May 2008. During the shutdown, it is proposed to take up certain jobs as part of ongoing refinery expansion programme requiring refinery shutdown.
Essar Oil operates a fully integrated oil company. Its assets include developmental rights in proven exploration blocks, a 10.5 million tonnes per annum (mmtpa) refinery in the west coast and over 1,000 oil retail stations across the country. Plans are under way to increase its exploration acreage in various parts of the globe, expand its refinery capacity to 34 mmtpa (7,05,000 barrels a day) and open 5,000 retail outlets.
