IndianOil is redeploying people from the heavily staffed Bongaigaon
Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (BRPL) to IOC refineries as part of the
business integration of the merger.
BRPL was merged with IOC on March 25. Mr V.C. Agarwal, Director-HR of IOC said “BRPL refinery currently is a bit overstaffed and has 1,600 people. We started redeploying people from BRPL to IOC operations even before the merger. While the assessment on the optimal number of people required in running the Bongaigain refinery in a cost effective manner is yet to be over, we are expecting to shift a small batch of 40-50 people to other operations shortly.”
Describing the integration process as much simpler compared to the erstwhile IBP Ltd, which had a parallel marketing arm across the country, Mr Agarwal said that apart from the refinery in Assam, BRPL had a few co-ordination offices and guest houses in the country that would now be used by IOC.
