India :Bharti Retail Sets Out Big Targets for Future

Rajan Bharti Mittal said that Bharti Retail would be the fastest
business vertical to cross the $1 billion revenue mark once it takes
off. The retail development includes the Easy Day c-stores.
Bharti has kicked off its retail venture with the world's largest retailer, the US-based Wal-Mart.
Rajan Bharti Mittal said that the company currently has 12 convenience
store formats 'Easy Day', which range between 3,000 to 4,000 square
feet in area and plans to open the mid-size stores in December this
year.
The mid-size stores would range from 40,000 square feet. The cash and
carry stores, which are a joint venture with Wal-Mart, would be
launched in 2009, Rajan Mittal said.
Mittal said that in the next five years, he would aspire that 50% of
the group's revenue comes from telecom and the balance 50% from other
businesses like retail, agri and food products, and financial services.
