China: PetroChina to Lift Refinery Capacity

CNPC, the parent of PetroChina, has announced that it will invest 8.33bn Yen to expand the annual capacity at its refinery in Karamay, Xinjiang province. The refinery’s annual capacity will increase to between six and seven million tons of heavy oil and between three and four million tons of thin oil.
The facility, which began construction in August 2005, began operations in 2009. It currently processes high-sulfur crude oil delivered from Kazakhstan
