Senior-level appointments within Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd (BSP), Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd (BLNG)
and Brunei Shell Marketing (BSM) were recently announced and more Bruneians have moved up to take key
leadership positions in the organisations.
Heading the list was Hj Salleh Bostaman Hj Zainal Abidin, BSP's Asset Director, who will be appointed as
the new managing director (MD) of BLNG, beginning mid-June. Hj Salleh will succeed Fred Smeenk, who
will take on the post of chief operating officer in QatarGas.
Before assuming the new position, Hj Salleh will be involved in a number of activities in preparation for his
new role, including a short overseas assignment in Oman LNG.
Hj Salleh, who is a chartered engineer by profession and holds an MBA, joined BSP in 1983. He has
extensive senior management experience, both within Brunei in BSP, as well as abroad in Oman's Shell Co,
and Shell's Head Office in The Hague, The Netherlands.
Hj Salleh has been conferred The Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei (3rd Class) by His
Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. He is also a member of the APEC Business
Advisory Council (ABAC) and a board member of the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS).
Following these staff movements, Hjh Rosmawatty Hj Abd Mumin, presently BSP's West Asset Manager, will
succeed Hj Salleh as BSP's Asset Director.
Hjh Rosmawatty already holds the unique distinction of being the first female manager in BSP in her earlier
capacity as Darat Asset Manager.
Hjh Rosmawatty will now go on to achieve another milestone as the first female director of BSP.
Furthermore, she will also be the first female member to join the rank of senior leadership team in BSP as
well as Shell EP Asia Pacific.
Additionally, Hj Kamaluddin Hj Bungsu, BSP's Darat Asset Manager, will be appointed as the West Asset
Manager, replacing Hjh Rosmawatty.
Another Bruneian, Yap Kong Fah, who is currently on an international assignment in Shell Exploration
Production Asia Pacific, will take over as Darat Asset Manager.
Meanwhile in BSM, Hj Said Ahmad will be appointed as the new MD, effective September 1. Hj Said, who is
at present on an international assignment in Shell Development Australia, will succeed Pg Hj Yasmin Pg Hj
Mohamad.
Commenting on the appointments, BSP MD, Dr Grahaeme Henderson, said, "We are immensely proud to
announce these top-level leadership appointments.
"They are very high-level positions, not only within Brunei Shell companies, but also among the private
sectors in Brunei Darussalam."
