The Office of Fair Trading says it has found no evidence of false
advertising at petrol stations across south-east Queensland.
The Premier has warned that petrol stations will be fined heavily if
they mislead the public, and the ACCC is also investigating.
There have been reports some Gold Coast operators are advertising
regular unleaded fuel, but only have premium unleaded available for
sale.
Fair Trading commissioner Brian Bauer says his officers checked 41 stations today but found no breaches.
"Some individual pumps have been turned off but in all cases there has
been both the regular and the premium available," he said.
